Meet the researchers of the project.

Dr. George FilisMarie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow, Panteion University, Athens

Dr. Filis is Associate Professor at the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics of Bournemouth University in the UK. Previously he was at the University of Portsmouth and the University of Winchester, in the UK.

He was a Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellow at the Department of Economic and Regional Development of Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Greece during the ENEFOR project.

His main teaching responsibilities revolve around economics and finance.
His research interests are in the areas of energy economics, financial economics, business cycles and tourism economics.

His research has been published in highly ranked journals including the Journal of International Money and Finance, Energy Economics, the Energy Journal, the International Review of Financial Analysis, the Manchester School and the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, among others. He has more than 1100 citations.

His work has been presented in more than 40 international conferences.
He has served as referee to a number of journals including the Energy Journal, Energy Economics, Economics Letters, Journal of Applied Statistics, International Review of Financial Analysis, Tourism Management, Review of Development Economics, International Economics, Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance. Dr. Filis is also member of the editorial boards of a number of international journals.

Dr. Filis has received his PhD in Finance from Bournemouth University. He also holds an MA in Financial Services from Bournemouth University, as well.

Dr. Stavros DegiannakisScientist-in-charge, Panteion University, Athens

Dr. Degiannakis is Assistant Professor in the Department of Economic and Regional Development of Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences. He has taught in various Universities (Athens University of Economics and Business, Hellenic Open University, University of Central Greece, etc.) statistics, econometrics, time series, data analysis and quantitative techniques. He has also served as econometrician for companies in private and public sector (Bank of Greece, University of Portsmouth, Economic Chamber of Greece, Inventive, Hellenic Parliament, Profile etc.). He has served as referee in more than 30 international journals, such as the Journal of Applied Econometrics, the Journal of Banking and Finance, and the Journal of Applied Statistics.

His research interests are in the areas of applied and theoretical financial econometrics (ultra-high frequency data analysis, macro-finance modelling, option pricing, risk modelling) and statistics (marketing metrics, multivariate distributions, forecasting ability, time series analysis).

Dr. Stavros Degiannakis received his PhD in Statistics from Athens University of Economics and Business. He graduated from the Athens University of Economics and Business, where he completed his studies in Statistics and holds a M.Sc. degree in Econometrics from the University of Essex.

His publications have been published in high impact factor academic journals and have more than 700 citations. He has participated in European Central Bank’s Experts Group on Financial Assumptions, in European Commission’s Group of Experts on Economic Forecasts, in Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s Working Group on Short-Term Economic Prospects. He has been invited to serve as evaluator by the European Research Council, Economic and Social Research Council, Czech Science Foundation, Greek Ministry of Education, etc. He has also served as Marie Curie Research Fellow under the 7th Framework Program, supervised funded research projects, and has achieved for his research multiple grants and awards.
